I can tell you that 4.1 SP1 still has the http 1.1 issue. Just had a user a
few minutes ago complaining.. sure enough 1.1 was cut on.

I have exactly the configuration you described below (FW-1 V4.0 sp5 on nt
4.0
sp5. I also have NAVFW 1.5. We had to touch each client in our organization
(800
users) in order to turn off http 1.1 in their IE4. It is on by default and
is a
parameter that is unique by userid, not machine. So if a user logs into
another
machine other than their own, their profile is generated with the Http 1.1
default. It is a real hassle to field help desk calls on sites that don't
load
or timeout and you lead the user through checking this parameter only to
find
out http 1.1 is on. We will be upgrading to 4.1 sp1 when it is generally
available as an upgrade. But I don't think that will solve this problem
until
Checkpoint CVP supports http 1.1

#1 - You will not get good performance from the 4.0 product when you use
security servers. Take my advise, and upgrade to 4.1 SP1. The security
servers work a lot better.
Secondly, make sure your clients browsers are not using http 1.1. Using HTTP
1.1 has caused us and clients many many issues such as slow loading, not
reachable or halfway reachable.

Subject: [FW1] Fw: CVP and HTTP timing out

 I am using fw1 v40 sp5 on nt 4.0 sp5. I have an nt 4 machine running Norton
Antivirus for firewalls v1.5. I set up a rule using the CVP to scan/clean
http and ftp for viruses. Certain sites timeout when I attempt to connect
with clients. I can connect to www.yahoo.com, but not my.yahoo.com. I can
connect to www.msn.com but not to my outlook web access server at a
different site. Anyone have this problem using CVP and an antivirus program,
how did you fix it?

I turned off scanning of HTML and ASP in the norton program. On the
checkpoint side, I am not doing html weeding, activex stripping, I turned
off Syndefender too. Any ideas would be appreciated.

thanks

 John Kelly
