Having read Adrian's comment and having reread your initial post, I think that between mine and Adrian's comments, you should be able to build the docs without much trouble. One suggestion I have is to set environment variables to the local locations of the DocBook DTD and docbook-xsl files. This makes the builds begin MUCH faster. :)
