I did a similar test too.
My result is this:
int(2369684)
int(2400328)

the difference I got was 30,644 Bytes.
My environment is Ubuntu 9.10 and PHP 5.2 and ZF 1.9.
If on other OS or older version of PHP/ZF, a ton of memory may be required.
