There is a huge amount of Free Software activity in China. The government bought Linux computers for every government employee that uses computers several years ago. China has its own Linux distribution, Red Flag, and is working on a joint distro with Korea and Japan to provide seamless support for all three languages. (They each use Chinese characters as part of their writing system.) A project that is still small, OLPC-China, has the eventual aim of getting OLPC XOs, Sugar education software, and free digital textbook replacements to about 150 million children at a time. I'm writing some of the materials, and recruiting translators. -- Edward Mokurai (默雷/धर्ममेघशब्दगर्ज/دھرممیگھشبدگر ج) Cherlin Silent Thunder is my name, and Children are my nation.
