Is the public face purely scoped to public messages?

One of my beefs with FB is that it defaults new features to public. G+
gives me very good control over my posts, but what is it doing with my
Picasa albums, personal info, etc.?

Also I'll repeat the joke, "Google Plus is sooo cute. Letting me enter
my personal information like it doesn't already know."
