Yeah, I forgot that System 9.0.x has a really old version of Expander.  
Once you upgrade to 9.1 or 9.2.x, double-clicking will usually open  
the files. If not, a box will pop up giving you the best fit to open  
them, which just happens to be... Stuffit Expander. Imagine that!

It does that because they were stuffed with a newer version than 9.2.x  
has...
