My 600MHz iBook has been having problems with hard drives lately, and
I'm starting to think the cooling fan may be having problems, as the
hard drive area (to the left of the trackpad) seems to get hotter than
it used to, and high heat seems to correspond with hard drive going
flaky. I haven't been noticing any fan noise when this happens, which
is why I'm leaning toward the fan.

Are there any diagnostic routines that I can run to force the iBook to
turn on the fan, in order to definitely verify fan operation or lack
thereof?

Also, does anyone know of any good sources for such fans? I figure
I'll probably check the LEM Swap list, but thought I'd check on other
sources as well, in case I can't find one there.

Thanks,
Kurt
