A quick search of the XBench archives shows they run about the same XBench scores for Panther vs. Tiger. A lot of programs are 10.4 minimum, some are 10.4.11 minimum, so I'd do Tiger just to squeeze as much life as possible out of the old girl. XBench had some nice maxed out Lombards with 500 MHz G4 upgrades, but the thing that probably made the most difference would be a fast, roomy HD. I doubt you'll want to invest in a 7,200 rpm HD for your Lombard, but that's a "max out option". Or better yet, a flash HD. 64GB should be getting cheaper, but still more than the Lombard is worth. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to Low End Mac's G-Books list, a group for those using G3 iBooks and PowerBooks (we run a separate list for G4 'Books).
