I think I just needed to reinstall the "helpers". I have blatted the install and now have a ~6gb partition with Jaguar, a ~1gb 9.1 partition (all within the 8gb partition limit) and used the 9.1 as a helper to install Panther on the rest of the drive. I figure, I have a natively installed Jaguar so that if Xpostfacto gets screwed up again, I can still boot to OS X and use Projectbuilder, but I have also got Panther with Xcode (this machine is my "learning" machine to force me to get in to Cocoa and Objective C - no excuses etc.) Turns out that Xcode 1.0 runs with 10.3.0, so I'll do the 10.3.9 upgrade at my own leisure. I don't specifically require 10.3.9 at the moment. The battery lasted over an hour last night and still had ~40%, and seems to be recharging, so all is good (hopefully.) One question, in OS 9.1, what does a red battery indicator mean? Never used 9.1 on a laptop before. The battery reset util is installed, so I guess it might be related?
