Hello Brian. I have a 500 Mhz Dual USB iBook G3 with a 14 GB HD and 128 MB RAM on board, total of 384 MB. I got it for free from a client jumping to a MacBook Pro. It came, not-booting, with a crippled OS 9.1. I wiped the HD and installed 9.2.2 and 10.4.11. Works great but with the same noise you described. Opening the beast (the first simple stage to reach the RAM is enough) and cleaning out the collected dust of 7 yrs did wonders!! Nearly silent now! DON'T use compressed in a can!! It mostly always will produce condensations which can/will damage your electronics!! Use one of these one-hand blow-bellows and/or a mini-vacuumcleaner for comp. etc. HTH, Jo Hissel --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to Low End Mac's G-Books list, a group for those using G3 iBooks and PowerBooks (we run a separate list for G4 'Books).
