Hi

Whilst I was looking for some hard drive upgrade options for my
PowerBook, I stumbled across some horror stories regarding 80GB
Toshiba drives.

My PowerBook G4 867Mhz has an 80GB Fujitsu drive, which it came with,
but was installed by the guy I bought the PowerBook from, so it is not
a stock drive.

It seems that a lot of the 80GB Toshiba drives failed. Some people had
had 3 or 4 drive replaced - with exactly the same ones. Should I be
worried (yes I know mine is a Fujitsu - and I have have had great
experience with them in G3 PowerBooks). My machine is whisper quiet,
but I need a reliable machine (as reliable as any Apple machine can be
- I know this sounds negative but they don't have the best reputation
for great laptops).

My PowerBook G4 is running Leopard which adds a little pressure to it
and while it doesn't get overly hot, it is warm. I did have a Titanium
G4 400Mhz which I ran Leopard on an it positively burnt my legs - so I
know heat when I am talking.

Sorry if this seems dramatic, but this is the highest spec laptop I
have had and I love it, so I don't want anything to happen to it. It
is also my main machine and I would die without it.

Simon
