TOPIC: Tiger on Pismo Date: Sun, Jan 11 2009 From: Stan Michael For some reason, I always thought Tiger might be a bit much on a Pismo (even a 500), but I am glad to hear that it should work. Any gotchas I should be aware of? --------------
Stan, Tiger runs very well on my Pismo. The only things I would suggest before installing Tiger on a Pismo are: a. be sure the firmware is 4.18 (installed when in OS9). If you are already using OSX then check About This Mac for the Boot Rom version. b. my internal modem works fine in Tiger, but I have to untick 'wait for dial tone'. c. Once you have installed Tiger, check your preferences for Spotlight and set them to a minimum. Then let the Pismo run for a few hours before turning it off. Spotlight is indexing the drive and slows everything down until it does so, even to the extent of very slowly opening the hard drive the next time you turn it on, if Spotlight has not finished its processing. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to Low End Mac's G-Books list, a group for those using G3 iBooks and PowerBooks (we run a separate list for G4 'Books).
