The older version 6 doesn't support Leopard HDs with ACL (Access Control Lists, a new Leopard thing). The newer version 7 does support Leopard HDs. You're best off using PC FAT32 as a file system universally read/write for both PC and Mac. You could also use NTFS or Linux Ext2 or Ext3, but you'd need to add special freeware to the Mac, and these probably are less reliable than simply using FAT32. If you're formatting FAT32 on a Mac, in Disk Utility when you highlight the HD and you're in the Partition tab, first select the # of partitions under "Volume Scheme", second select the Options button and use "Master Boot Record", third in the Format selection use "MS- DOS(FAT)", fourth give the partition or partitions custom names, and finally hit the "Apply" button. Should be good on both Mac and PC for data only. You won't be able to boot a Mac from FAT32, but it's fine for transferring data. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to Low End Mac's G-Books list, a group for those using G3 iBooks and PowerBooks (we run a separate list for G4 'Books).
