The tubes themseleves are about only $15, you have to disassemble the screen, and be moderately handy mucking about with electronics, so as to avoid tearing cables and breaking delicate things. Also the lights themselves are very fragile, they're fluorescent tubes about 4 mm in diameter and the width of the screen, very easy to break.
