Not really.  IIRC, what Ram Doubler did was use a different virtual memory
system as well as free up memory claimed by open programs but not being used
at the moment.  The effect was that OS 9 would report, if not doubled ram
available, more than you actually had installed in the machine (tho both
figures were shown).  It made for a snappier system--worked great on my
520c.  One of the best purchases I made for that machine.
