What OS?

If System Profiler isn't seeing it under the Airport Card section then 
it functionally isn't there.  Odds are it's bad or not seated correctly. 
  I would verify the seating, again.  Make sure you can see the pins 
before inserting it and that the card is all the way in.

When you check the Airport card, you don't have the other card installed 
do you?  That might make it not identify the onboard card.
