A long shot, but have you looked at the firmware revision of the optical drive and checked if there is an update? Same goes for the Pismo firmware, it should be version 4.1.8f5 (I assume it is, based upon this article): <http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2052225> It says this is a firmware issue related to USB, and that some USB devices send a mouse button down signal at boot that causes the optical drive to eject. If you have a USB device, unplug it at boot.
