Kris,

Is there a way to verify that the Apple Partition Map was applied? I'm
100% certain that I selected it prior to partitioning, but it would be
nice to be able to know that it was done correctly. I'm glad to hear
that you were able to install onto and boot from an external usb drive
(although I sure wish you had said Pismo instead of iBook, LOL).

Yes, before partitioning I checked the Boot ROM Version/firmware, and
it is 4.1.8f5

Hmmm, I hadn't even considered using XPostFacto since I "shouldn't"
need it to put OS 10.4 on a Pismo, but you're right, that could be a
viable solution. I've never used XPF, is it obvious/easy to figure out
how to not install XPF extensions? Are there any other insider tips
about installing XPF?... I see installation and use info on the OWC
website, but sometimes not all useful info for those of us in the
trenches is documented. I've downloaded it (v4.0) and am going to
check it out further tomorrow (later today actually), as my brain has
surpassed it's ability to absorb additional information at the moment.

Thanks to everyone for all of your help thus far.

Karren
