I tried to upgrade my 400 Mhz Pismo with a used 900 Mhz chip off of eBay. Couldn't get it to work. It could have been a bad chip. The seller took it back. I am running the 550 Mhz G4 in it now with 10.4. I've seen no major problems but it can run hot if it's pushed a bit. Some of the faster aluminium G4 PowerBooks have trouble running Leopard. I don't think I would recommend it for the Pismo, even with the upgrade. IMO you lose too much performance, not to mention the Classic environment.
