I use the freeware Personal Ancestry Writer II which is a simple,
easy to use piece of software, which encourages good research habits!
I definitely recommend it.

I use it with OS 10.3 on my 500MHz G3 iBook and performance is good,
not noticeably slower than on my 1.8GHz MacBook
There is also a version for System 9 Macs but I haven't used this for
many years.
