I've got an old iBook G3 clamshell (tangerine, just for the record)
that suddenly stopped charging some time ago and won't run off battery
power anymore. I've tried replacing the pmu and the logic board, and
still nothing works. The battery would run for hours until one day
when the thing just died. It still runs fine on AC, but the PRAM
battery seems to be dead.
The pmu and the logic board were both eBay buys. While the pmu
looked OK, the logic board might have been a little beat up (the
trackpad cable had been violently severed).
While this is no longer my main computer (I'm writing this from my
favorite laptop—a Pismo 500 with 512 MB and 120 GB, DVD-ROM, Wireless-
B, and 10.4.11), I'd still like to bring this clamshell back to
working condition.
Does anybody know something I don't know?
