On my Powerbook G4 125 GHs, I had what I thought was a RAM chip go
bad. I've been running with only one chip, a 512.

I replace the supposedly bad chip with a new one. The machine
started up and showed both chips working. Within a few minutes,
however, I got a whole bunch of type on my screen that started out:

System Failure: CPU-0 Code-00000001 (corrupt stack)

There is a whole lot more, which I'll send to anyone who can
interpret it.

I shut the machine off then restarted it. It started up but showed
only one memory chip present.

Does this mean that instead of having a bad chip, I've got a bad
slot? Is there any remedy for it? Or could it mean I damaged the
chip when putting it in or didn't plug it in properly?

        TIA

                                                                        Peter
