I'd really like to get another iceBook, but I've had some rather bad
experiences with them in the past. The first notebook I ever owned was
a 600MHz Rage128 model and two hard disks went bad in it. When I had
the first one replaced, the repairman honestly botched the machine up
royally. My sister is the one who had the work done and I suppose she
didn't bother to actually look at the work.

But the second disk went bad after a few years, too. Then I picked up
a clamshell iBook, and it, too finally let its disk go bad while in my
mom's care. I don't know if it really just died or if she treated it
poorly though.

I can find the ones I want fairly cheap... about $100 to $125 for well-
cared-for iBooks. The thing I'm wondering is that now that I know
better how to care for and use a portable computer... were my
experiences with iBook hard disks common or can I purchase one of
these computers with enough surety that my hards disk won't give up
the ghost on me without warning?
