mAH stands for milliamp-hours, which is a measure of how much energy the battery can deliver when fully charged. More mAH == longer time on battery.

6-Cell vs 9-Cell is exactly what it sounds like, there are more individual cells in the battery enclosure, and is just like a boom box that uses, say 6 C-cells versus one that uses 9...the one using 9 can either draw more power in the same amount of time as the 6-Cell, or draw the same amount as the 6-Cell, for a longer time.

It's how batteries get the higher mAH numbers, most commonly: stuffing more cells into the box.
