Um--er--I thought the Wallstreets were made in 1998 and also were
14"???

I have queried the sellers, but they may simple not know the answers
so thought I would check with the, ahem, W\"WallStreet" people!

Yeah, Wallstreets were made from May 1998 through May 1999 (per MacTracker). Definitely not in 2008. I tend to shy away from e-Bay sellers who don't know their stuff. If they get one thing that wrong how much faith can you have in the other info.

Since no power supply is included I would figure on the battery being dead (I'm not saying it is, just figure that way).

Have you looked at Lombard and Pismos on e-Bay? I've had three Wallstreets, all loaded with Panther and a Pismo with Tiger. While I used one of the Wallstreets for a couple of years as my main machine and it served well but the Pismo is a much easier machine to work with. It doesn't require the 8Gb paritition, it can take twice the memory, it can take an Airport card - no PCCard sticking out the side and it will be a faster processor. And while XPostFacto works very nicely, it is a bit of a pain if the computer hangs up or something and you have to go through a bit of a procedure to get it to boot in OS X again. I was recently looking on e-Bay for a second Pismo and the prices on some of them were pretty good.

Lombards aren't as nice but are still easier to work with than a Wallstreet.
