Okay, maybe I am going at the Wallstreet hunt the wrong way. Originally I
wanted it to just be, essentially a portable typewriter- I put in a zip disk,
typed letters on it--carried the disk back to the desktop and printed them.
With my Wallstreet I have th floppy drive, zip drive, CD drive units.
The new IiMac will not open my QuarkXpress 7 files (all created when I was
running 10.4 on the G-3)- which I had also saved on floppies, zips and a thumb
drive--so if I can get a unit that I can load with an OS X less than 10.5)- and
be able to use any of the
three methods I have Quark saved, then I will have both a portable typewriter
and a way to open the files I need for taxes NOW.
To repeat- I need something that will--
1) open my QuarkXpress 7 files (using floppy, zip, or thumb)
2) be able to be used simply as a portable typewriter otherwise.
3) oh yeah- cost is a rather large consideration and with time running out on
the tax thing----

I was looking for the Wallstreet because I knew a bit about it, have the
modules, and figured the price would be low enough that I might be able to
afford
 it.
So- opinions from one and all- should I stick with Wallstreet hunting or--as
some suggest go looking for something like a Pismo?
If I cannot figure out this soon, I have to buy a converting software for
the Quark to Indesign--since that is what I chose to go with on the new iMac.
   Thanks All-- Sheryl

You need to work out
1) which software you need to open these Quark 7 files
2) which operating system this software will run on
3) which computer will run this operating system.

Just look at the min specs page for system requirements of the software and
that should tell you what you should be looking for eg G3 or G4 processor,
512mb Ram etc
