I can't seem to understand how to get my Pismo and my LaserJet 6MP to
speak to eachother. I use the 6MP with a parallel port to USB cable

Pismo's USB port, however, only rarely will I catch the HP flicker in
the printer and fax preferences window. It doesn't stay on - and it is
very briefly appearing.

Thoughts on how I can solve this?

Running Tiger 10.4.11 on the Pismo - but Panther 10.3.9 yet on the
eMac. Is it a Tiger issue? Or perhaps a Pismo issue?

It may well be a Tiger issue. ISTR having a similar problem updating a Professor's system here; it made his old printer (another HP) stop working...he eventually relegated the printer to his lab and got a new printer for himself.

What does the system log and the CUPS error log say? (To get to the CUPS error log, go to the Console app, click the 'More Logs' button and click reveal arrows until you can see var > logs > cups > error_log)

You can have the console open when you plug it in, and see what errors are generated.

You may have better luck going to a ethernet to parallel print server, and running it off the network. That way you can print to it from both systems; the 6MP should work fine over the network
