Hi my friends, My Pismo has developed a couple of quirks that seem unrelated, but you never know. First, lately it has trouble connecting to my wireless home network via Airport. More often than not, it gets the dreaded "self-assigned IP" thingie. I tried a lot of fixes, and the only thing that seems to get rid of the problem is eliminating the WEP encoding altogether. Once it's back in place, the disconnects begin anew.
The other issue is the trackpad. It all of a sudden gets jittery, and the mouse pointer starts jumping all over the place and gets very hard to control. Restarting usually takes care of it, until the jitters comes back. I haven't tried an external mouse, so I'm not sure if it's a trackpad issue or a software issue. Now for the specifics: the Pismo is a 500Mhz, with 1 gig of RAM and an Airport card, running 10.4.11. My home network is based on a b/g Linksys router with basic WEP encryption.
