What is the least expensive source for additional RAM, above the OEM supplied 2 GB? I'd like to have at least 4 GB with this machine.

There are a number of reputable vendors, Data Memory Systems <http://www.datamemorysystems.com > is my favorite.

Have there been problems with attempting to install the super- maximum of 8 GB?

I've had one person here boost hers up to 8 gigs (she deals with huge statistics datasets) and she's had no issues with it. I'd imagine it reduces battery life noticeably.
