Hi
I second that RAM is your biggest issue. I have an iBook G3 500Mhz. It too is 
running 10.4.11 and when I first got it, it had 384MB and it ran OK, but not 
fantastic.
I upped it to 640MB of RAM and it made a lot of difference.
I would change the hard drive and when doing so put a 5400 or 7200RPM drive, 
just to ad that little extra speed.
In terms of Firefox. I run 3.6 and it is acceptable, but then I do have the 
extra RAM. For speed I prefer Camino or Safari. Safari is the fastest, Camino 
is next.
