Have you checked Newegg? They did have ATA drives for about $50~60.

Hello to all!
In trying to rejuvenate a Pismo, I found that all the 2.5"
drives in by box are dead, except a 20 Gb that whirs loudly. Since
there are not many of the PATA (IDE/ATA) drives available anymore
(and none cheap), I decided to go with this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000T9QRKE/ref=oss_product
for just a little more. I know the write speed is not as good as
SLC (for twice the $), but my thinking is that for browser and email
it probably won't be any worse that a ten-year-old 4200 RPM drive,
and read speeds should be nothing short of awesome.
Has anyone on the list tried SSD with a PPC machine? If so, what
steps did you take to reduce the writing? I think Spotlight can be
turned off simply by dragging the drive's icon to the privacy pane.
I found a config setting for Firefox that turns off drive caching:
http://forums.macrumors.com/archive/index.php/t-658153.html
Move your cache to RAM: (From http://mydellmini.com/forum/windows-7-ultimate-ssd-speed-tweaks-t2540.html)
:
Description: If you use Firefox, there's a way to write cached files
to RAM instead of the hard disk. This is not only faster, but will
significantly reduce writes to the SSD while using the browser.
Instructions: Open Firefox -> Type about:config into the address bar
-> Enter -> double-click browser.cache.disk.enable to set the value
to False -> Right-Click anywhere -> New -> Integer -> Preference
Name "disk.cache.memory.capacity" -> value memory size in KB. Enter
32768 for 32MB, 65536 for 64MB, 131072 for 128MB, etc. -> restart
Firefox
Any other suggestions?
Thanx,
