So I was pawing through my parts box, and discovered enough parts to make a Pismo, except it would only boot from a battery, not AC. 'I've seen this before,' I think, and replaced the sound board. Same deal. So I pulled it apart to try another sound board, when I noticed the PMU was warm. Hmmm...It must be the PMU, then. Got a PMU from Chuck on the SwapList (thanx, Chuck!), and it boots from AC–but only from the optical drive. I tried fresh installs of Tiger, and even OS 9, on several different drives, with the same result: hangs before the desktop. Boots and runs fine in safe mode, but every time it hangs after the spinny thing, with a plain blue screen.
I'm stumped, and open to greater thoughts from sharper minds.
