My apologies for not being more specific, I thought this would go into the older thread/conversation of the same name.
Since it hasn't, I'll give some more specifics. "These contacts" are to be found inside two small round holes on the underside of the iBook, located between the battery bay and the logo. The one closest to the CD drive is positive, and the one furthest from the CD drive is negative/ground. (on the yoyo adapter, negative/ground is the braid, and positive is the white inner wire) The holes are exactly one inch apart, slightly over 2.5 inches from the front feet (or, 9/16" from the edge of the battery door) and slightly over four inches in from the outer tabs on the battery door. They take the same input voltage and amperage as the ordinary contacts. Also, it seems I was mistaken about the orange indicator LED. it does in fact work as it would with the regular connector. I have made a baseplate of sorts, but it currently requires painstaking placement of the iBook, as I have not yet devised a way to reliably locate the iBook on the baseplate, and I am not using proper contacts, just the ends of the wires from the old yoyo with the broken connector. My efforts, such as they are, can be seen here: http://picasaweb.google.com/fitzmorrispr/IBookChargingBaseplate -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Books, a group for those using G3 iBooks and PowerBooks (we run a separate list for G4 'Books).
