About the G-book first: iBook G3/800 running Tiger 10.4.11.

Do any of you have any idea why this otherwise has-always-been- and-still-is
wonderful iBook is suddenly shutting down on me without warning when it's still
got 50-60% battery juice left in it? Sometimes in the past on those few
occasions I was admittedly not paying attention to battery usage, it would TELL
me it was running on reserve battery power and would shut down soon if I didn't
supply it with wall juice, and when I'd plug it in, I'd find that yeah, the
battery was at 5% or less.

Now it just shuts down in the 50-something % range. I did a PRAM zap but that
didn't help it -- it still did the sudden shutdown when it hit that range.

Thanks in advance,
That's a very common symptom of dying batteries. Every battery I've ever
replaced in fact, did that before the end. If its an original battery it's had
a good long life...

OK, Bruce, thank you very much. I'll get a new battery for it. Nope, that wasn't the original one, it was one I bought off the swap list this past summer -- the one that it came with (I bought this iBook in July 2007) was down to 40-something percent health and only held a charge for an hour and a half..that's why I bought the "new" one in the summer. Anyhoo, looks like I'm going to have to put the original back and hope it holds till I can get a new battery.

And yeah, I agree, both of them must have had good long lives. :-)

Thanks again, you are always a wonderful font of genius and help. :-D
