The memory controller in the pismo will recognize 1 gig of ram; that's how much
I had in mine (which also had a 500 MHz G4 upgrade, although I don't remember
the brand.)
Yes, but I think the memory controller is on the CPU board, so as this
is a 3rd party upgrade it may be different to the Apple one (and
different to other 3rd party brands), my advice is still to try the ram
module on it's own to see if it is correctly seen.
