Hi Thomas,

Make sure all other specs are compatible - no of pins, memory density, error correction (ECC), ...etc

If the chip speed is the only difference, you could try overwriting the EEPROMs in the RAM modules with the required clock rate.

I have just completed a similar exercise fitting 800MHz RAM to a 2008 MBP which only supports 667MHz.

After a less than thorough attempt to find OS-X software to flash the EEPROMs, I settled for using SPDTool which is windows only. If you use SPDTool, you need to be able to fit the RAM to a machine which can run Windows. In my case, the MacBook RAM also fitted an available Compaq notebook running Vista. Others (see links below) have found it convenient to boot Windoze on their Macs.

Good Luck!

OWC knows more than I do about RAM and if they say it doesn't fit, my guess

Sorry the MPB list has been taken over by preverts of all kinds so doubt I
will get a serious answer there -

I know that this is g books but I am now with an MBP. And I asked a question
of iMac / MBP (because I want to know if 2G ram DDR3 1333 MHz from an iMac can
be used in my MBP early 2010?)

Thinking to buy 8G for the iMac, & use its current 4G 1333 DDR3 in the MBP.
OWC advise that MBP requires 1067 MHz! Not 1333 MHz? :-)?

 Grateful for any enlightenment.

 Stuart.

 From OWC -

 "Dear Stuart,

You will not, the 2010 MBP used 1066MHz memory and will not support the
1333MHz used in the iMac 11,2.

If the MBP was a 2011 then yes you would be able to do that. Let me know if
 you have any further questions/concerns.

 Thank you!

Product Name: 8gb mem for iMac
Item Serial Number: Serial Number: W8028ZBSDAS
 Operating System: OS 10.6.6
 Processor: Intel Core i3 : 3.06 GHz
 Model Identifier: 11/2

 Description:
I have an 11/2 iMac,, 2010, and am thinking of buying the 2 x 4gb memory
upgrade. If I do so, will I be able to use the old memory (2 x 2gb DDR3 1333
 MHZ) in my March 2010 MBP? (Which currently has 2 x 1gb DDR3 1067MHz)

 Thanks,
 Stuart."
