Hi- I shut down the Pismo and re-started with a flash drive plugged in, and an exterior mouse plugged in, and while holdingdown "c" on the keyboard. It powered up normally, I jiggled the mouse and that worked, and within about 5 minutes the flash drive icon finally showed up on the screen. I suspect it was a defect in the combo upgrade (osx 10.4-10-4.11) after I re-installed 10.4,so thanks for the advice. sr
