Hi there As I recall, Mac OS9 booted faster and felt snappier than Tiger on my Pismo. I can easily test the former if you like. For short texts like you mention, SimpleText - which comes with Mac OS9 - may well be ample.
In Mac OS9, so long as you set up file-sharing by TCP/IP, the Pismo will be visible to to your main mac. (I assume it’s an OSX mac.) If you can afford it, an SSD or CF card plus adaptor in place of the HD may reduce power consumption. However, you may be better off investing in a second battery in place of the optical drive. See http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powerbook_g3/faq/powerbook-g3-battery-life-single-dual-batteries.html hope this is of some help Bruce On 19 Aug 2011, at 00:24, tedg wrote: > I am investing in the Pismo as a portable writing machine.
