That depends very much on which flatscreen iMac it is :) According to everymac.com, all flatscreen iMacs made before 2009 came with at least one FW400 port, so all you need is a 6-pin to 6-pin FW400 cable - something like http://www.amazon.co.uk/FIREWIRE-CABLE-1394-PIN-5MTR/dp/B000PQZYHS/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1333711652&sr=8-8
If it's a later iMac, you'll need either a 9-pin to 6-pin cable - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Neet%C2%AE-FireWire-Cable-IEEE-1394b/dp/B00316V6LW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1333711720&sr=8-1 or the 6-pin to 6-pin and an adaptor - http://www.amazon.co.uk/FireWire-400-800-Adapter-Neet%C2%AE/dp/B00315QQC2/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1333711634&sr=8-11 To the best of my knowledge, FW800 is fully backwards-compatible, with the exception of the lug itself, so anything you can do over firewire, you should be able to do with any of these setups. Hope this helps Dan On 6 April 2012 01:13, johnr60 <[email protected]> wrote: > I'm sorry for such a basic question but how do I describe in order to > buy a firewire cable to connect an imac flatscreen to a pismo? > > -- > You received this message because you are a member of G-Books, a group for > those using G3 iBooks and PowerBooks (we run a separate list for G4 'Books). > The list FAQ is at http://lowendmac.com/lists/g-books.html and our > netiquette guide is at http://www.lowendmac.com/lists/netiquette.shtml > To post to this group, send email to [email protected] > To leave this group, send email to [email protected] > For more options, visit this group at > http://groups.google.com/group/g-books > > Support for older Macs: http://lowendmac.com/services/ > -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Books, a group for those using G3 iBooks and PowerBooks (we run a separate list for G4 'Books).
