Hi Judith > Please point me to a how-to article that allows me to keep these > services after the deadline.
I’m sure you can keep your mac.com email address when you upgrade. I’m in a similar position to you, in that while my main mac is Lion-happy and my iDevices are up to iOS 5 (hence these are iCloud ready), I have older macs which run 10·4·11 and 10·5·8 which I occasionally use for email and calendaring. For example, I don’t have a Lion-friendly laptop. In my experience, if you go to https://www.me.com/mail (the normal place for doing webmail), you will be given a choice of - moving to iCloud (if all your machines are iCloud-ready) - Apple sorting your email so it will work after Apple enforces iCloud I chose the latter option. I’m assuming that iCal and Address book will continue to work on all my macs - after all, Apple can’t reach into your macs and remove the software and data! Whether the iCals, email accounts and address books will sync with each other, even on the old macs, after June 30th? I don’t know but I guess it’s significant that an iCal entry created on my iPhone yesterday has made it to my main mac’s and my iPad’s calendars but **not** to iCal on one of my old macs. I’ve not checked address book entries but could fake one and see where it propagates to if you like. I hope this is of some help. I’m just spitting mad that iDisk - which was wonderfully useful for receiving and submitting freelance work - has been dumped. good luck Bruce -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Books, a group for those using G3 iBooks and PowerBooks (we run a separate list for G4 'Books).
