Apple did something like this when they replaced the logic board of my PowerBook G4. Imagine my surprise when, after returning from the Genius Bar, I booted up my 1.33ghz 17" to find a 1680x1050 screen!

I was asking about unsupported screen upgrades, though, not hacking a later model's screen into an earlier model computer. I know that it is theoretically possible, I just want to know if anyone's actually tried putting a 1280x960 screen in a Pismo (if only the 14" iBook had been 1280x960, then this upgrade might be a lot easier).
