Well, these are the same fragile tapes that I already trust many of my most
precious memories to - certainly as important to me as the data on my hard
drive.

And I'm thinking more of archiving than anything I would want instant access
to - why not back up your whole hard drive to a tape in the small hours?
CDs are too small to back up large files, e.g. Video, while DVD isn't really
mainstream yet.

Fact is, I've got a medium which is ideal for large-scale storage (DV tape),
a device that can record onto this medium (the camcorder) and an interface
on my Mac that allows it to output a data stream to that device (firewire).

So why not?
