Whoa..it's an emulator. Every _freakin'_ review of VPC I've ever read says 'But it's dreadfully slow compared to a real PC'. Invariably they compare it to an overclocked 5.7 gigahertz monster that's spewing smoke, spitting sparks and runs with a liquid sodium cooling system, and is only ever used for 10 minutes at a time to generate ungodly framerates in Quake. Like lining up a Saturn next to a full-blown funny car on the dragstrip and concluding that the Saturn is much worse as a car. Just TRY parallel parking a nitro-burning funny car. ;-) VPC on a tiBook running classic will feel like a 200-300 mhz Pentium or Pentium II, maybe, depending on what you're doing with it. (note not P3 or P4) I'm running an older version on my G3/350 upgraded PM 7600, and it feels to me like a 133-166 mhz Pentium. The original, the one that couldn't add straight. ;-) The general rule I've seen from a number of people running it is that it'll feel like the comparable windows system running at about half the clock speed a generation or two back. A fast G3 will feel like a slowish Pentium. A fast G4 will feel like a slowish PII. Games...nah. Any of the other 98 squidjillion mediocre programs available for the PC only, it'll run just fine. (anything that isn't mediocre has a Mac version, or better, a Mac program that does it right..;-) That said, Win2k on a PII450 is quite nice. (as that's what I run it on here at work) It runs on PII 350's we have here just fine.
