I use one in my 2000 Firewire powerbook and love it. It works wonderful for me and is even Apple bootable and works under Apple Burn and Toaste 5.1 just fine. I am using the CD-RW version which is 8X4x40 i think if i can remember right at this time. It is a good make of drive too matshita or however you spell the brand. I am glad i got mine since i got my DVD Rom drive replaced I only use the DVD Rom for DVD disks now and use the CD RW as my main drive thanks James
