>I have a Lombard G3 (bronze) Powerbook and would like to get a CD burner for >the expansion bay. The Xcaret drive got good reviews by Macworld; does >anybody have any experience (good or bad) with this product? They just released a 16x version - twice the speed of the old and of the Combo drive in iBook/TiBook. RW @ 10x. The older 8x is still available.
You could also consider a Matsushita UJDA-330 CDRW which is available on ebay stores <http://www.ebaystores.com/id=10525630> and probably fetches around $75 at auction. The UJDA-710 DVD/CDRW combo drive can also be found. Both fit into the Lombard/Pismo CD/DVD casing. There's a detailed article at xlr8yourmac on this. The 710s are getting harder to find, but the 330s are still fairly plentiful.
