This may sound anethema, but AOL has an option for $4.95 per month for 3 or 5 hours (I forget which). You can use its AOLLink option to connect to your normal email server while online with AOL. Yes it is awkward, but they have more numbers than just about everybody else. Last time I was in the States, I used them on occasion, when I didn't have a good Earthlink number. You can also check Earthlink. I think they have a low-volume account also.
