Wrong. There are only 4 Mac companies/products that I despise. 1. Norton Utilities and AV. 2. Eudora. 3. Lacie and Silverlining (horrible software). 4. AOL. That's pretty much it, and most of my clients use none of them. > To me, that just speaks of the intelligence level of his clients, and > ultimately himself. If your clients are having that many problems with > Entourage, making you that much money, then they are doing something > seriously wrong, or you maybe you are if you are the maintainer. Don't go there Walt. My clients make things that you use or view on a regular basis. I have a great track record with my clients and I often replace other techs that can't get the job done. It isn't my fault that users have problems with programs after I install them. I have had many many users at the firms that I support have problems with Eudora. I used Eudora back in the earliest versions myself. I recently "retried" it and hated versions 4 and 5. It wouldn't do what I wanted it to...especially when it came to handling newsgroup traffic. It was a very unintuitive interface and really not very user friendly. > All email clients are pretty much equal, and each one fits a niche. How dare you? Don't ever ask for *my* help with a problem. To try to share my experience with dealing with thousands of machines a year is a good thing. I also help users off list with problems, and just did so with Laurent when his local Mac techs couldn't figure out his problem . Took me 2 e-mails and about 3 minutes of my time. All I did was speak of my experience with this program. Am I to tell the my clients (the North Face, Wells Fargo, Landor, Goodby Silverstein, Red Sky, DB Needham, Cost Plus, REI or Ketchum) that that I have had no problems with any mail client so they can pick any one they want??? Hell no! That's why they hired me. To resolve problems for them and consult with them on what works and implement that plan. How better to resolve a problem than stop it before it starts? My clients don't have to deal with issues revolving around their Mac's. Their Mac's just run. That's my job, and if they stick with my recommendations it makes it easier for all of us. What do you think a Pro Mac Tech and Consultant *does* Walt? They *pay* me to influence their decisions on software and hardware. Geez. I tried them all (well almost all of them) before settling on Entourage. It handles Newsgroups well, sorts, filters and finds in a manner that speaks highly of the Microsoft Mac Business unit...who are decidedly "UN-Microsoft." It also synchs my Palm info directly into it. Thus eliminating the need for yet *another* application on my Mac. I resisted Entourage for a while. I love it now. It is expensive since it only comes bundled with Office, but that's about its only fault AFAIK. > I have used Eudora for over a year. I have used Entourage for longer. > Both are fully capable email clients that provided me with absolutely > no problems. Well goodie for you Walt. I am sure that your isolated single-user experience speaks for all Mac users in this grand pond, and the thousands of people I deal with in the professional Mac user world are idiots (as you suggest). -- ============================================================== Kyle H.
