I've got a USB Zip100 I've never had a problem with. I have an old SCSI 
Jaz drive that worked under OSX 10.1, but less than reliably,I think.

(System froze up while using it on the few occasions I've tried it, but 
it was intermittent, and I'm not certain it was, in fact, the drive.)
