The only change Apple's made recently (last year or two) regarding 
reconditioned products have been changing the duration of the warranty 
(IIRC, the warranty was only 90 days, and is now 1 year), and that 
reconditioned products are now eligible for the AppleCare (they were 
not, previously).

AFAIK, Apple has been only offering 1 Year Warranty and 90 day Tech 
Support on ALL of their units (new or reconditioned) for more than a 
few years now.

Are you sure you're not confusing the term "warranty" with the term 
"support"?
