The ABS is not in the room I am working in, and with the stochastic nature of the problem I am probably going to give it yet another shot instead of watching a light bulb until it hits again :-). I guess next time I am just buying an UPS since it is a handy thing to have anyhow and no waste of money even if it doesn't cure the airport trouble.
